Family Support and Memorial Funds
On March 9, 2019 School of Hope Foundation lost our Board member, Social Media Director, fighter for justice and lifelong man for others when Cedric Asiavugwa perished in the tragic crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302. We are devastated by this loss and want to honor him in a couple of ways. We are collecting funds to support his wife Linet and baby son Jabali at this extremely difficult time. Non-tax deductible gifts can be made to School of Hope to support Cedric’s family. Please make a note that the gift is for the family.
Additionally, tax-deductible gifts can be made for St. Aloysius Gonzaga in Cedric’s honor.
With a gift of $1,500 or more, you can sponsor a student at St. Aloysius Gonzaga High School. Your gift covers the annual cost of high school tuition, meals, textbooks, supplies, basic medical care, uniforms, school trips and other expenses. Students will write letters to their sponsors and share their St. Al’s experiences and gratitude. Sponsors will have an opportunity to send a letter and/or photo in reply to their student three times per year. Sponsors are welcome to renew their student sponsorship through the years of high school.

Currently, the school is engaged in a capital campaign for the the construction of a dormitory campus that can house 480 students and staff. This would provide a safe living environment close to the school and allow the students to better focus on their studies. The land has already been purchased and is a 7 minute walk from the school campus. Pending acquisition of the work permit, the first phase of the construction work should begin soon. This first phase involves building a perimeter wall and a band room. Currently we have raised $800,000 for the land and $1,000,000 of the $1.8 mil goal for the construction.
Fundraising responsibility for St. Aloysius Gonzaga in the USA transitioned from USA Midwest Province of the Society of Jesuits to the School of Hope Foundation in July of 2017. School of Hope is grateful to the leadership of the Jesuits for its support since the inception of St. Aloysius, assisting in this transition and affirming that our partnership will continue in various ways. School of Hope Foundation is a registered 501c3 organization. Obtain a copy of our IRS letter here.
